R1p up the Record Books

I have a wide foot and large feet and the wide toe box is perfect for my flipper feet. The Rubber version (R1R) is indeed much quieter than the original. The original was nice though because people could hear me running behind them 10 feet away. But for my own sanity the R1R is preferred for me personally. This is my third pair and have run over 5000km in total with these shoes.
When they get stinky and dirty and I throw them in the washing machine with cold water and they come out almost new.
Highly recommend overall.
Love my R1Rs! Felt great right out of the box for a 7.5 mile run and looking forward to getting my first pair of P1s soon.
comfortable shoe with a grippy sole
Great daily trainer, workhorse shoe. No break in period. Would recommend for anyone looking for an everyday trainer, or get some long runs in
The sole is comfortable as advertised, but the toe box of the R1 and the other models still needs to be wider. Also, for the R1, install an elastic lace at the front for better suspension when running versus the rope-type lace that is installed now.
After much research and debating I decided to give Mount to Coast at try. Let me just say wow! I ordered the R1R’s (12.5) and have put in 3 runs totaling 25 miles in them. Each shoe weighs a mere 10.6oz. in the 12.5. My favorite feature is the toe box and mid foot lacing. Having those isolated are a game changer. They are getting better after every run. Went out for 17 this morning and have zero complaints. Looking forward to running a marathon in the R1R’s in December and then a multi day event in July. I did personalize mine a bit by replacing the mid foot laces with black lock laces. This gave me a much better feel on the top half and added some color to them.
I am very satisfied with the comfort and spacious toe box of this shoe. The dual lacing system is particularly impressive, allowing me to adjust the fit as needed during extended runs when my feet tend to swell. The shoe performed exceptionally well out of the box and I would highly recommend purchasing another pair.
So far, these are great. I really like the size of the toe box and the fact that I can adjust lacing in a couple of different ways. The midsole has enough bounce for good energy return but is still plenty stable. Happy that I invested in these and will continue to keep them in my rotation.
I bought these not knowing if they were the real deal or just a social media hyped product. I am happy to say these shoes are worth every penny. I had Achilles tendon soreness recently wearing Brooks and Nike, and Hokas have never fit my feet. The R1Rs are amazing and solved my tendon pain so far. I will buy again but have one request - please include a pair of longer laces for people like me who prefer not having the dual lacing system. I could never get the shoe evenly tightened with all the different laces but changed them out for some “normal” laces and the shoes are now perfect.
I ordered a size 11 R1R. I normally wear an 11 or 11.5 in other brands and they seem to fit well. True to size. I expected them to be a little more bouncy out of the box but they are still very comfortable right away. I run about 15 miles per week but I don’t typically run more than 6 miles at a time. I’m hoping these shoes push me further! So far I’ve run a 5k and then a 10k and my legs and feet feel good. I typically go for plush and bouncy soled running shoes so these are a bit of a change for me, but I’m still a big fan. (Maybe the R1s without rubber are more plush?) I have no tried the original R1s, but the R1Rs still feel pretty light and are very quiet. The top laces are kind of grippy and they hold their position very well, and the bottom laces are easy to adjust if you need a wider toe box. I disagree with other reviews saying there is no break in period, but I still think they are fairly comfortable to start. It feels like they take about a mile or so to break in each run and then it’s pretty much smooth sailing. Hoping they completely break in over the next couple of weeks. They feel very durable and I can tell they are going to last a long time. I’m excited for future Mount To Coast products and what else they come up with. We want hats, trail shoes, and performance apparel!
I had the R1 shoes and loved them. I ordered a pair of the R1R instead of R1 because I was hoping that these would be more quiet and provide a similar ride to the R1 (which I loved). They are definitely much quieter on the road. Also the Rubber sole does a great job on the wet roads which I ran on today. I am a big fan of Mount To Coast.
Been dealing with a knee injury from running and my first run in these shoes I was able to go twice as far as any of my previous runs with almost no knee pain . These shoes are absolutely amazing and live up to everything advertised!
Just got the shoes on Friday. Did my first run on Saturday and they are great. No need for a break in period. They felt great right off the bat. The sizing was great. I buy a 10.5 in shoes and these were the same. I'm excited to put lots of miles on these.
1st run down in the R1R. They feel great. Tons of adjustability, well built, and smooth & responsive ride. Weight is spot on. Not one thing I would change. Looking forward to logging some ultra miles. I have a 12 hour endurance race soon and these will be in the race kit. Bravo team - glad I took a chance on a new product/company. These will be in the rotation going forward. They kinda remind me of the original Hoka Carbon X except the upper is much better build. (this is a good thing). Simple fast shoe for training/ultras.
They fit true to size and love the double lace adjust-ability. Cannot wait to get them ultradirty! ;)
